ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of soluble carbohydrate (rice bran) as an additional feed on Etawah (PE) Peranakan goat to dry matter digestibility and nutrient by internal indicator method. The design used was complete randomized design (RAL) with four treatments and four replications. The four treatments are: treatment A (grass field); B (field grass + 75 g rice bran); C (field grass + 150 g rice bran); and D (field grass + 225 g rice bran). Each repetition consists of one goat. Field grass and drinking water are given in ad libitum, while rice bran is given once a day ie morning according to treatment. The results showed that the addition of rice bran increased significantly (P <0.05) on dry matter digestibility, organic matter, and rumen fluid protozoa quantities, but the increase in the digestibility of crude protein was not significantly different (P> 0.05). The digestibility of crude fiber decreased significantly (P> 0.05) in treatment B, and there was a marked decrease (P <0.05) in treatment C and D. The administration of rice bran decreased the pH of rumen fluid but the decrease was statistically different real (P> 0.05). From the results of the study it can be concluded that the addition of rice bran in feed can improve the digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, and the amount of protozoa of rumen fluid, in turn reduces the digestibility of crude fiber and rumen fluid pH. The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and four replicates, and each replicate consists of one goat. The four treatments were treatment A (native grass), B (native grass + 75 g rice bran), C (native grass + 150 g rice bran) and D (native grass + 225 g rice bran). The native grass was given ad libitum twice a day in the morning and in the afternoon, besides the rice bran was given once a day in the morning according to the treatments, and drinking water were given ad libitum. Variables observed were dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, crude fiber digestibility, pH and total protozoa of liquid rumen.Results of the research indicated that the dry matter digestibility, organic matter digestibility and total protozoa of liquid rumen were increased significantly (P < 0.05) by the rice bran supplementation, as well as crude protein digestibility but statistically not significant different (P> 0.05). Treatments C and D were decrease significantly (P <0.05) and treatment A was not significant different (P> 0.05) to the crude fiber digestibility. Rice bran supplementation caused pH of liquid rumen was decrease but not significant different statistically (P> 0.05). It can be concluded that rice bran increased the dry matter, organic mater, crude protein digestibility, and total protozoa of liquid rumen, but decreased the crude fiber digestibility and pH of liquid rumen.
