In the 2006 curriculum, in elementary schools, literary learning is intended to improve students’ ability to appreciate literary works. The activity of appreciating literature relates to training to sharpen feelings, reasoning, imagination, and sensitivity to society, culture and the environment. The development of literary skills in elementary schools is carried out in various types and forms through listening, speaking, reading and writing activities. But in the 2013 Curriculum, the activities of literature, do not get a good portion. Whereas the curriculum approach implies its emphasis on developing attitudes and character, which of course literature as a very rich material to be used as a foundation for honing personality and character, considering that literature contains both personal value and exceptional educational value. The results of the Basic Competency analysis in Permendikbud No 57 of 2014, in class I there are text stories of themselves, class II narrative stories and poetry lyrics, in class III fairy tales, in class IV stories of adventures and rhymes and poetry, in class V, historical fiction, these of course it affects the contents of the Teacher’s Book and Student Book, which apparently shows that the literature covered in the book content is inadequate (very lacking), because the contents of the Teacher’s Book and the Student Book, derived from Basic Competencies that have been mapped thematically integratively.
