ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study to determine the extent to which the achievement of students ‘learning mastery, examining the effect of students’ activity and process skills on cognitive, and then tested the difference between learning result of realistic mathematics learning combined with learning strategy with expository approach. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 13 Semarang in grade VII. Here the population of all students of class VII consisting of 8 classes with each group contains 32 students. The sample was done by cluster random sampling to take experimental class ie VIIA and control class VIIB. The independent variables are; student activeness, process skills, and the kind of learning strategy. While the dependent variable is cognitive students. Methods of data collection is done by using documentation, observation sheet, questionnaire, and test. The data obtained is processed by descriptive analysis, t test one sample analysis, and simple linear regression analysis. The result of research with realistic mathematics learning combined with the strategy of learning tournaments with LKS media shows that; (1) mastery learning in student’s activity 72,87%, process skill 73,40%, and cognitive have reached 70%, (2) student activity 58,9% cognitive activity, while process skill influence cognitive is 53,3% (3) Right-side test shows that learning result with realistic learning of mathematics combined learning tournament strategy with LKS media is better than expository learning approach. With this learning is expected the teacher can develop their creativity and can motivate students in following learning. This learning should also be developed on other materials learned. With this variation of learning is expected to increase students’ activeness and skills in the process, so as to support the creation of better cognitive.
