ABSTRACT

This development research has the main objective to produce a valid, reliable and practical assessment tool or procedure. Instrument of physics laboratory performance appraisal is tested at high school student of class of academic year 2011/2012. The implementation of the trial involves a rater of 7 physics teachers. While for the test data of practicum activity in laboratory, determined by using simple random sample technique. Data analysis is done by following mechanism. First through the data analysis needs obtained information that aspects in the assessment instrument of physics laboratory performance are: preparing the lab, practicum and report the results of lab work. The two instrument grids consisting of 10 grains, once tested are retained because the 10 items are valid. Third according to the input of experts, the assessment rubric needs to be improved, so that after tested the rubric changes in some instrument items, especially in the descriptor section. The four test results of the validity of the contents analyzed using the Gregory formula obtained the validity of 1.00 count. The five test data of the validity of the grains (empirical), analyzed using Product Moment formula, obtained the correlation coefficient of all items of instrument greater than the coefficient of table correlation to 5% level of significance, or all items declared valid. Sixth test data of consistency reliability among assessors (rater), analyzed using Ebel formula, obtained value count reliability coefficient of 0.82 which pertained very high reliability. Seventh test data of internal consistency reliability of the instrument, analyzed using Cronbach Alpha formula, obtained value count reliability coefficient of 0.82 which pertained very high reliability. The eight practicalities of the instrument are analyzed with the T score formula obtained by the average score of 50.00 (pertained practical). The results of the research and development of the laboratory performance appraisal instruments as the above test results indicate that all instrument items are valid, rater) is very high, the internal reliability of the instrument is very high and practical to use. This means that the performance appraisal instrument of the developed physics laboratory meets the requirements of validity, reliability and practicality, as an evaluation tool that can be used further by physics teachers in Senior High School.
