ABSTRACT

Grain leaves contain flavonoid compounds. Flavonoids which are medicinal compounds can be used as antioxidants, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. The purpose of this study was to determine the antimicrobial power of cherry leaf extract against Eschericia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, and Staphylococcus aureus. The research method used is to isolate flavonoid compounds from kersen leaves using a solution of ethanol and methanol. Identification of flavonoids was carried out using IR and UV-Vis. Furthermore, the antibacterial properties of flavonoids were tested in Eschericia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The results showed that extracts of the isolation of kersen leaves were flavonoid compounds in the form of auron, flavonol, and flavones. This is indicated by the appearance of peaks in the UV-Vis spectrum in wavelengths of 382 nm, 350 nm and 323 nm and reinforced by the appearance of typical absorption C = O and à ¢ â ?? ¬ ???? OH in the IR spectrum. Extracts from isolation of kersen leaves with ethanol and methanol solvents have inhibitory effect on bacteria which is proven to have antibacterial properties against Eschericia coli bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, and Staphylococcus aureus. The higher the concentration of kersen leaf extract, the higher the inhibitory effect on bacteria. The extract that was most effective in inhibiting bacteria was extract with a concentration of 96% with methanol.à solvent
