ABSTRACT

Background. Angina Ludwig is a potentially life-threatening diffusa cellulitis affecting the bilateral floor of the mouth and submandibular region and causes progressive obstruction of the airway. This disease belongs to the group of odontogen infections. Case. Mr. B, 19 years old, came to the Ahmad Yani Hospital Emergency Unit with complaints of neck pain since 2 days before entering the hospital. There was moderate pain, consciousness compos mentis, temperature 37.5oC, caries in the left mandible M1 and tongue base hyperemic and swollen on the right side, visible enlargement of the right submandibular region, 18,000 / uL leukocytes. Then the patient was treated with Lactate Ringer infusion 20 drops / minute, ceftriaxone injection 1gr / 12 hours, gentamicine injection 80mg / 12 hours, injection of dexamethasone 4 mg / 12 hours, ranitidine injection 50 mg / 12 hours and the patient was recommended for tooth extraction in the teeth caries.
