ABSTRACT

The use of natural materials, both as medicine and other purposes tends to increase, especially with the slogan back to nature. Paliasa (Kleinhovia hospita Linn.) Is a potential medicinal plant to be developed as an Indonesian phytopharmaca that has been made of Tea Bagâ ?? s preparations. In order to know the safety limit it is necessary to test the acute toxicity. This research aims to determine LD50 â ???? Tea Bagâ ?? paliasa as well as examine the histopathological conditions of the liver, kidneys, heart and stomach after testing. Mice Bal / C as many as 70 tails divided into 7 groups. Each group of 10 tail consists of 5 males and 5 females. Group I was given a dose of 179 mg / kg BW, group II was given dose 358 mg / kg BW, group III was given dose 537 mg / kg BW, group IV was given dose 716 mg / kg BW, group V was given dose 895 mg / kg BW, group VI 1074 mg / kg BW and group VII were given aquades (negative control). All mice were observed for the presence of absence of death during the first 24 hours as well as the presence of autonomous changes in toxic symptoms observed including decreases in motion activity, increased respiratory rate, seizures, urination, diarrhea, salivation and paralysis observed for 14 days and at the end of the study of histopathologic observations of liver organ, kidney, heart and stomach. At first 24 hours observation no deaths and changes in autonomic effects in mice test animals were found. Based on histopathologic examination results there is no pathological abnormality in all liver, kidney, heart and stomach examination. Thus it can be concluded that the â ???? Tea Bagâ ?? paliasa safe to be consumed up to 1074 mg / kg BW or equivalent to 6x dose.
