ABSTRACT

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of SSCS problem solving learning model in the competence of diagnosing disturbances in the brake system. This research uses true experimental method (pretestâ ?? s posttest control group design in which there are two groups of experimental group and randomly selected control group). The sample in this study were students of SMK NU Bodeh class XI TSMâ ?? 1, which amounted to 32 students as experimental group and class XI TSMâ ?? 2, which amounted to 32 students as a control group. To test the hypothesis in this study using the test difference of two average using t-test. The result of hypothesis test using t test formula shows that the experimental group using SSCS problem solving learning model obtained the average learning result value of 79.53, with the highest score of 90, the lowest score of 70 and the standard deviation of 4.97, whereas in the control group using direct learning model (lecture) obtained the average learning result value of 71.56 with the highest score of 85, the lowest score of 55 and the standard deviation of 6.65. Thus it can be concluded that there are differences in learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class.
